RUGBY: As the winter sports season rolls into full swing in the coming weeks, the 1st XV rugby team enjoyed an excellent pre-season in which managed a narrow 13-12 win over Tauranga Boys. The team then held on for a noteworthy 19-19 draw with Auckland 1A champions Kelston Boys High School. 

Three teams travelled to Rotorua in Week 2, for the final pre-season fixtures. The Under 14s and 2nd XV teams struggled with the lift and intensity but took a lot of learnings from the weekend and as they move into their seasons. The 1st XV game is a traditional clash for the Grinter Challenge Cup between both teams, Rotorua Boys started quickly adapting to the conditions well racing off to a 17-0 lead. In the second half the 1st XV team started to fall into their game plan more efficiently and were able to start chipping away at the score line. 

With some quality possession and territory, we were able to secure an impressive 27-17 win to bring the Grinter Challenge Cup back to Paerata.

2nd XV: Auckland 2A Competition 

3rd XV: Counties Manukau

U15 Black: Auckland 15A Competition 

U14 Black: Auckland 14A Competition 

BASKETBALL: Basketball season kicked off last week with Wesley fielding three teams in the senior boys, senior girls, and junior boys’ grades. Junior boys started their season off with a win against Hauraki Plains in a close 40-35 contest. 

Senior girls had some last-minute changes to their team due to other commitments, otherwise, it was a great effort going down 29-62. Senior Boys starting their season with an impressive 56-32 win over Pukekohe High School.
