5-day trophy voyage with the Spirit of Adventure

On October 15, ten female students from year 10 and Mrs Faitala were lucky enough to have the opportunity to join three other schools (Western Heights, Solway, and Christchurch Girls High School) on a 5-day trophy voyage with the Spirit of Adventure.
The ship sailed around the Hauraki Gulf with stops at a number of Islands along the way.  The teams of students from each school were competing in events along the voyage including canoeing, knot tying, beach games, quizzes, singing, chanting, and poster art.  Some of the highlights were jumping off the ship first thing in the morning each day, climbing the mast, and walking the Kawau Island Copper mine trail.   Along the voyage, we were also lucky to see dolphins, sting rays, and a baby shark.   The crew on the ship took very good care of everyone and the girls made new friends with the students from other schools. Wesley College placed a very close 2nd in the competition which came down to the wire.  There were many new skills learned and lots of great memories to take away.
Our students were great ambassadors for Wesley College and were all very grateful for the opportunity.
A big thank you to the Auckland Maritime Foundation who sponsored part of the cost of the voyage.
