40 HOUR FAMINE 2021
An interesting 40k walk around our own Wesley College backyard to acknowledge the 40-hour famine this year. We had nearly thirty students attend the walk, most of them were shocked to experience how long and draining the walk was but understood that this was for a good cause. Students started on the field, cross the pond, up towards the back entrance of Wesley College, towards Pakeke dorms, down Puhitahi Hill Road and then repeated the track. Students were expected to do twenty six laps in total which equalled forty kilometres . Well done to Kevin Tavir who walked as many kilometres as possible even after 4pm.
I want to thank all students who participated, all staff who were present and assisted the Chapel Committee by making sure this event was a success and especially to Mrs Janine Raos who participated in the 40 hour famine walk a long side our students.
Our aim this year was to raise five hundred dollars, in total we raised $824.50 to help children around the world that are in need of essentials such as water, education and healthcare.
The top three students who collected the most money are as followed:
- Malia Inoke- $151.50
- Tine Tupou- $150.00
- Seini Vatuwaliwali- $142.10
A great turn out, and we look forward to the 40 hour famine challenge next year.
Ms Elisa Tufala and the Chapel Committee.
