Nineteen year 12 and 13 students enrolled in the Gateway programme just completed their forklift licence and gained up to 25 credits learning about health and safety, hearing conservation, manual handling in the workplace and forklift theory.
Ten of these students are now about to embark on a work placement in the Logistics field to put their forklift licence into practice and investigate whether they could be interested in a Career within this industry.
The nine others are completing their work placement in a variety of different industries.
I am currently seeking work placements in building and construction, scaffolding, drain laying, plumbing, electrical and in the sporting industry. If you have a business, work for a business, or have contacts with people that may be interested in helping students experience the world of work in the form of a work placement, I would be keen to hear from you.
