We had the SPIES Outreach students from Auckland University back to Wesley College to work with students in Year 10 and 11 keen to study engineering when they leave school. They did hands-on activities with the students to get them thinking outside the box and finding solutions to a variety of problems.
Students keen to work in the automotive industry had a field trip arranged by MITO. We met in Epsom and jumped on their bus with 5 other schools and visited four different workplaces within the automotive industry.
Students in Year 12 and 13 keen to do engineering had the opportunity to go to STEMHUB Science spinners event in Manukau. The event partnered by KuDo’s Science Trust, Puatala and Braemar charitable Trust. Students got to interact with a number of hands-on activities in different industries. Students now have opportunity to follow up with the employers they met to discuss cadetship and apprenticeship opportunities.
