If you test positive for COVID-19, you will need to isolate for 10 days. You will be sent a link to complete an online form, which will help identify locations you have visited and people you have come into close contact with.
If you live with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you are considered a Household Contact and will need to isolate for 10 days. You must get a test on Day 3 and Day 10 of your isolation. If you develop symptoms you should get a test sooner.
Anyone who tests positive with a RAT will need to self-report their positive result and then isolate for 10 days. There is no longer a need to follow up with a PCR test to confirm that result.
In terms of Boarders as household contacts - The Ministry of Health have confirmed that rather than identifying everyone in the hostel as a household contact if you were to have a confirmed case, it is sensible from a risk-perspective to continue to use the 1.5 metre distance as your main guide for identifying close contacts of the confirmed case. This means we can narrow down potential students to send home.
At Phase 3, Close Contacts no longer need to isolate. If you get a notification from your workplace, school or through the NZ COVID Tracer app that you are a Close Contact, you should monitor your symptoms for 10 days. If you develop symptoms get a test, and you should isolate until you get your result.
All current close contacts, unless symptomatic can return to school/work place regardless of waiting on test result.
We have many students that must now return to school. We understand there may be some anxiety but it is important that their learning is a priority. The best way to be as safe as possible is to be double vaccinated.
