History was made on Saturday May 1st when the first-ever women’s match between super rugby clubs was played in New Zealand. The Blues and Chiefs took part in the inaugural women’s Super Rugby match. The Wesley College Girls 7's rugby team were blessed to be a part of the monumental occasion. Firstly, team managers Mrs Letticia Jones and Mrs Desiree Pole were invited to attend the coaches run at the Blues Rugby Headquarters. They also had the opportunity to lift the trophy that would be awarded to the victors of the first-ever women's super rugby match.

Our Wesley Seven’s girls joined local schools and clubs to form a guard of honour on the playing pitch of Eden Park. The team relished the chance to see some of New Zealand's top female rugby professionals play on the most famous rugby field in Aotearoa. Our girls were especially proud when Wesley old girl Langi Veainu scored the first try for the Waikato Chiefs.

The team stayed to cheer on the men's super rugby teams and were able to connect with some more Wesley old students.

Thank you to management staff and families for making this trip possible.

Once a Wesleyan, Always a Wesleyan.
